Green Valley View, Kodaikanal

Green Valley View, Kodaikanal
Green Valley View refers to a place of breath taking beauty near the Kodaikanal Golf Course. This place was earlier called suicide point as a number of people ended their life here by jumping into the valley which drops nearly 5000 feet below. The Tamil Nadu Government to discourage people ending their lives by jumping renamed this place as Green Valley view.

The best times to visit the Green Valley view to take in the scenery are late mornings or noon as due to the heat of the sun there would be less amount of mist due to which one visiting here can enjoy unhampered view. Care must be taken as there are lots of monkeys here of which few are aggressive.

Green Valley View Point is located at 10°12'37.1"N 77°28'32.3"E or 10.210296, 77.475650. Green Valley View, (formerly called Suicide Point) 5.5 kilometres (3.4 mi) from the bus-stand and near the golf course, has an excellent panoramic view of the plains and a sheer drop of 1,500 metres (4,900 ft) overlooking the Vaigai Dam to the south. The stairway leading up to it is highly commercialized and lined with rows of shops to tempt tourists.

The ideal time to make a visit to this valley is between 10 am and 3 pm. The major attraction of this valley is presence of plenty of monkeys.
