Ardhanareeswarar Temple, Tiruchengode - Chariots
There
are four car chariots available in this temple. The first is for Lord
Vinayagar, the second belongs to
Lord Sengottuvelavar, the third to Lord Ardhanareeswara and the fourth
for Aadhikesava perumal. During this festival the idols of Lord Ardhanareeswara, Sengottuvelavar and Aadhikesava Perumal are
brought down from the hill temple for the chariot procession. At the end of
14th day the idols are taken back.
In 1628
A.D Kondapoopathi who ruled kongu
nadu donated two small chariots. The chariots were
there for nearly 374 years. In 1699 A.D Chennaraja Chikendrar made a chariot
for Lord Sengottuvelavar. In 1699 A.D Nagamalai Gounder (1699 A.D) donated
the biggest chariot for Lord Ardhanareeswara. During the festival lakhs of
people gather to get the blessings of Lord Ardhanareeswara.
Golden Chariot:
Golden
Chariot is at the Hill Temple. Golden Chariot Procession can be done by
Devotees for Rs.1500/-. The Golden Chariot procession is held on every day,
except on Festival days.
