St. Peters Church, Kodaikanal
St. Peters Church is the oldest church in Kodaikanal
located on St Mary's Road.
History
The St. Peters Church has a 200 year old history when
believers gathered at a house of an elder. Later as more and more people
gathered to pray the need for an individual church building was envisioned and
with the support of several donors and Robert Caldwell who was then serving as
the Bishop of Tirunelveli construction began.
The church was later inaugurated on 1887 AD and has been
growing steadily ever since. Several community development initiatives are
being taken care of this church like providing basic education at a very
nominal fee to needy children.
Services
Mass is held in morning on all Sundays. During tourist
season Mass in held at Evenings too.
