Ardhanareeswarar Temple, Tiruchengode - Festivals
Every
year the famous 15 - day festival called Vaikasi Visakam Car Festival (May –
June) is celebrated with four car chariots. The first is for Lord Vinayaga, the
second for Muruga or Sengottuvelavar, the third carries Lord Arthanareeswarar
and the fourth for Lord Aadhikesava Perumal. During the annual festival
celebrated in the Tamil month of Vaikasi, the festival image of
Arthanareeswarar is brought down from the hill. People from all over the state
of Tamil Nadu visit the temple and perform the Girivalam by going round the
whole hill.
This
festival is famous among the towns and villages surrounding Triuchengode. It is
a big festival for the Triuchengode people. New Moon days and Full Moon days
attract more devotees to the temple. Three worship services are offered each
day. The late night worship service (Artha Jama Pooja) is considered to be of
importance here.
