Adhinathar Jain Temple, Birudur, Thiruvannamalai
Adinathar
Jain Temple is located at Birudur village near Vandavasi in Thiruvannamalai
District of Tamilnadu. Birudur is located in the Melmaruvathur road at 4 kms
from Vandavasi town. The Temple is built in Dravidian Architecture. Boarding
for Jain Ascetics is available in the Temple. Shri Adhinathar graces from the
sanctum. Sanctum Vimana is of 2 tiered. The Vimana has four Thirthankar idols
in the sitting at the bottom portion and in standing postures at the top
portion with Chamara maids, below the shikara and kalasha.
In
Ardhamandapam Komuga Yaksha and Chakreshwari Yakshi statues are placed on both
sides of aisle. All metal idols of Thirthankars, 24 Thirthankars cluster,
Navadevatha, Mahameru, Rathnathraya tri-Thirthankars, Bhagavan Bahubali are
arranged on a platform. Also Shri Mahaveerar stone engraved idol, 24
Thirthankar cluster and Chadurmugi are seated on another platform.
Fore chamber
of Ardhamandapam called as Mahamandapam, has daily pooja platform with metal
idol of Moolavar and a Muhamandapam closed by iron grill panel and doors for
safeguarding the treasure inside.
There
are two pavilions on north and south of entranceway. In the north Yakshas and
Yakshis shrine and adjacent to the south pavilion Navagraha idols are
established upon a pedestal. An altar and a Manasthampam made of single stone
pillar having four Thirthankar engraving at the bottom and a vimana at the top,
four Thirthankars statues is standing inside and sitting postures over it. All
features are surrounded by a high wall structure.
Adjacent
to the Jinalaya and north of Manasthampam a 16 feet monolithic stone carving
statue of Shri Mahaveera is installed on a platform in the year of AD 2012. It
resembles like the gigantic Statue of Bhagavan Bahubali at Shravana Belagola,
Karnataka. Daily poojas, special poojas and annual festivals, Urchavams are
conducted and celebrated recurrently.
