Mahaveerar Jain Temple, Veliyanallur, Thiruvannamalai
Mahaveerar
Jain Temple is located at Veliyanallur Village in Thiruvannamalai District of
Tamilnadu. Veliyanallur village is located at about 7 Kms from Cheyyar town.
The Temple has north facing entrance and has a three tier Rajagopuram. The
Temple is surrounded by walls on all sides. Every stage of the tower got eight
mortar idols of Jinars, four exhibits on each side. The tower has all aspects
from Athistana to stupi like Sala, goot, Nasi, Mahanasi, padmam and five Kalashas
on the peak.
The
Vedi-block is surrounded by beautiful Garden and paved corridor. Dwajasthambam
and high stage altar were installed on the front of sanctum. Sanctum got Shri Mahaveerar
Vardhamana Jinar, black granite plate bas relief has features of Padmam,
Ashtamangala and Kumbam in Singadhana bheet, two Shamara (whisk) maids,
tri-umbrella and Praba circle which provide a splendid appearance.
The
sanctum is crowned by simple vimana with shikhara and Kalasha on the peak. On
griva stage four Jinar cement idols are exhibits on each direction and at the
corner got single head with dual body lion mortar idols. Inside Arthamandapam all metal idols, like
some Thirthankars, Panchaparameshti, Nantheeswara Deepam model, Yaksh, Yakshi
Shri Padmavathy and Shri Dharmadevi, are exhibited inside on four galleries two
on either side of aisle. Mugamandapam porch offers a majestic look.
On the
fore head of this porch a gallery (sala with devamadam) got Jinar idol in
sitting posture at front. At the western side, Shri Jwalamalini shrine with
small Vimana and Kalasha is located. Adjacent to that two Jinar
granite statues are sheltered by concrete terrace.
One is
predecessor of Moolnayak which got all eight feature of Samavasaran Jinar (but
a mutilation is in tri-umbrella). Another one has no lanchan Thirthankar might
be very old one. Regular poojas and rituals are conducted at the appropriate

Veliyanallur
village is located at about 7 Kms from Cheyyar town, travel towards east and
getting a south turn at Puliyampakkam in the Kanchipuram road will leads you to
this Temple. It is located at about 30 Kms from Kanchipuram and 98 Kms from
Thiruvannamalai. Nearest Railway Station is located at Kanchipuram and Nearest
Airport is located at Chennai.
