By Road:
Thiruvannamalai
is well connected by road. The Puducherry – Krishnagiri national
highway, NH 66 and the Villupuram – Mangalore National highway NH
234 pass through Tiruvannamalai. By road from Chennai
the travel time is around 3.5 hours. The travel by car or by public transport
is quite comfortable. Bus services are available in plenty from Chennai,
Tirupathi, Salem, Madurai and from other important cities in Tamilnadu.
From
Bangalore there are plenty of bus services to Thiruvannamalai operated by
government corporations. Thiruvannamalai can also reached from Kanchipuram very
conveniently by road by traveling due south. The bus station and the railway
station at Tiruvannamalai are within walking distance from the temple of Lord
Shiva.
By Train:

Railway Station is located at Thiruvannamalai. It is on the line
connecting Katpadi Junction and Villupuram Junction and falls under
the Tiruchchirapalli division of the Southern Railway. The Madurai – Tirupathi
bi-weekly expresses connects Tiruvannamalai to the cities of Madurai and
Tirupathi in either direction. There are also passenger trains running either
side from Katpadi to Villupuram. Nearest Major Railway Stations are Villupuram
(76 km) and Katpadi (65 km), both of which are well connected with the rest of
the state and the country.
By Air:
Nearest
airport is Chennai (185 km), which offers good domestic and international
connections. Pondicherry Airport is located at about 89 Kms from
Thiruvannamalai.
