Kunthunathar Jain Temple, Kappalur, Thiruvannamalai
Kunthunathar Jain Temple is located at Kappalur Village in Thiruvannamalai District of Tamilnadu. Kappalur is located on the Thiruvannamalai – Polur Route. The Idol of Kunthunathar in this Temple is 1000 years old taken from Kasthambadi near Thiruvannamalai town. The temple consists of two chambers. One is Garbagriha, it has Shri Kunthunathar white marble statue (absolutely incised) inside a beautiful four pillar Vimana on a Plinth.




Along this three white marble idols of Shri Adhinathar, Shri Parswanathar and Shri Mahaveerar and also some metal icons of Thirthankars, Yaksha, Yakshi and Nantheeswara Deepam model on simple platform. It was crowned by simple Vimana having four Jinars sitting on a lotus for each direction.




Another chamber used as worshipping consists of two plinths, one on east side has Old Jinar stone bas-relief of 1000 years old icon, beautiful carving has eight features of Samavasaran Jinar but degenerated face. Another one on west side has Shri Padmavathy Devi statue, inside a marvelous four pillar vimana.




The Temple is surrounded by walls on all sides. Dwajasthambam, altar and brick work made Manasthampam consists of four Jinars for each direction at the bottom and same as on the top vimana are located in the corridor. All Poojas and religious rituals are conducted regularly at the appropriate time.




Kappalur is located on the Thiruvannamalai – Polur Route. It is located at about 34 Kms from Chetpet, 35 Kms from Arani, 29 Kms from Thiruvannamalai and 64 Kms from Vandavasi. Nearest Railway Station is located at Thiruvannamalai and Nearest Airport is located at Chennai.
