Valeeswarar Temple is dedicated to Hindu God Shiva located at Kuranganilmuttam Village near Mamandur in Thiruvannamalai District of Tamilnadu. Kuranganilmuttam Shivastalam is the 6th of 32 Thevara Sthalams in Thondai Nadu. Thirugnanasambanthar has sung hymns in praise of lord Shiva of this temple. The temple is situated on the southern bank of Palaru River and it is believed to have been built by Pallava King Mahendra Varman in 637 CE.

Temple Opening Time
The temple is opened from 7.00 a.m. to 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m.
Festivals
Lakhsadeepam (one lakh lamps) in Tirukarthikai in November-December, Shivarathri in Masi (February-March) and Aippasi Annabishekam in October-November are the festivals celebrated in the temple. Pradosha Pooja is regularly observed in a grand manner.

Prayers
Sugarcane juice is used for abhishekam in the belief that our life would be as sweet as sugarcane. It is also said that birds and animals having just five senses also worshipped Lord Valeeswarar and gained six senses. Devotees are relieved of sins, gifted with wisdom and knowledge. Devotees pray to Lord seeking release from sins, for wisdom and intelligence, and remedy from the effects Saturn aspects.
Married women and pregnant women offer bangles to Mother before they wear them. They believe the prayer would reward them child boon and safe delivery of the child. They also pray to the mother for relief of Balarishta doshas of Children. Balarishta (Bala-children, arishta-illness) is an adverse effect on the new borns according to planetary situations at the time of birth lasting for some years according to astrology.
It is the faith of devotees that prayer to Lord Valeeswarar would reward them with a satisfied life and total liberation at the end. Devotees offer abhishekam and Vastras to Lord and the Mother on realizing their prayers. Yama is considered to be the presiding lord of Planet Saturn. Those seeking relief from ill-effects of this planet (Sani dosham) can worship Lord Shiva here.

Connectivity
Kuranganilmuttam is located at about 8 Kms to the South West of Kanchipuram on the Vandavasi road on the banks of River Palar. After crossing the Palar bridge in the Vandavasi/ Cheyyar route, you will see Dusi village at around 4 Kms. There is a road diversion to Kuranganilmuttam there and the temple is around 2 Kms from there. As there is no bus facility to the temple, the visitor has to hire an auto.
