Anantheeswarar Temple is dedicated to Hindu God Shiva located in Meyyur Village
in Tirukalukundram Taluk of Kanchipuram District of Tamilnadu. It is a
beautiful and ancient Shiva temple under dilapidated condition and had been
renovated recently.
Legends
Sri
Patanjali Maharishi intends to set up Bana Linga in Chidambaram temple, so he
took Bana Linga from Kashi and was travelling towards Chidambaram Temple. While
on the way he stayed at the southern bank of Palar River to take rest. During
that time Adiseshan and other Snakes worshipped the Bana Linga and requested
Patanjali Maharishi to consecrate the Lingam in this place. Adisesan also
requested sage to name Lingam as Anantheeswarar as Anandhan was the name of the
sage in his previous birth.

Lord of
this Temple is facing west & Mother Anantha Nayagi graces devotees facing
south. Shrines of Vinayaga, Naalvar, Murugan with Valli and Devasena,
Chandikeshwarar, Bhairavar and Navagrahas can be found in this Temple. Durga,
Brahma, Lingothbhavar and Vinayagar can be found in the Koshta. Thala Viruksham
is Vilwa tree and it is located near Temple Theertham, This Temple is Parihara
Sthalam for Raaghu and Kethu.
