Pancha Mayana Kshetrams:

Pancha Mayana Kshetrams are group of five places where Lord Shiva burnt Lord Brahma and revived him back. These incidents are said to have happened at an interval of one Karbam. One Karbam consists of billions of years. The Pancha Mayana Kshetrams are;

1.    Kachi Mayanam (Kanchipuram)

2.    Kadavur Mayanam (Thirukadaiyur)

3.    Kazhi Mayanam (Sirkazhi)

4.    Veezhi Mayanam (Thiruveezhimizhalai)

5.    Naalur Mayanam (Thirunaalur)

Paadal Petra Sthalams:

This Temple is considered as one of the shrines of the 276 Paadal Petra Sthalams glorified in the early medieval Thevaram hymns. This Temple is the 165th Devara Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam and 48th sthalam on the south side of river Cauvery in Chozha Nadu. This Temple is considered as one of the 44 Paadal Petra Sthalams where the Moovar (Thirugnana Sambanthar, Appar and Sundarar) had rendered their Pathigams.
