Bodimettu is a locality in Theni district in the state of Tamil nadu in India, near the border with Kerala.  It is 10 km from Poopara on the way to Bodinayakanur by the side of National Highway 49, which runs from Madurai to Kochi. Bodimettu is the main cardamom-growing area of Tamil Nadu. It is close to famous tourist destinations such as MunnarMarayur, ThekkadyKodaikanalIdukki Dam.




Bodi Mettu is one of the highest peak in South India, is located along the Munnar-Madurai Highway near the border between Kerala and Tamil Nadu. From this point on a clear day one will get a bird’s-eye view of Tamil Nadu and the Bodi town.





For a hill station with a difference, take a trip to Bodi Mettu in Theni District, Tamil Nadu. This idyllic hill station straddles the magnificent Western Ghats at a height of about 4500 feet above the sea level. This serene little town is 43 kms from Theni and lies on the way to Bodinayakanur from Theni. Bodinayakanur, also known as Bodi is a small town that lies in the foothills of the Western Ghats; because of its beauty, it is called ‘the South Kashmir’.  
Hill Station
Bodi Mettu is one of the most popular hill stations in Theni District and attracts scores of tourists. The thickly wooded hillsides, the mist-soaked mountains, the refreshing mountain air and the beautiful weather add to its charm. The region is fragrant with plantations of coffee, cardamom and many fruits. It is also rich in flora and fauna and is home to many rare species of animals and birds.





Take long walks on the winding hill roads and soak in the beauty of the surroundings. You could also make a trip to Puliaruvi Waterfalls 6 km from Bodi Mettu. This is a popular tourist attraction.
Close to Bodi Mettu are the hugely popular hill stations of Kodaikanal and Munnar. You could also visit Thekkady, Idukki and Marayur.

Demographics

As of 2011 India census, Bodimettu hill had a population of 733. Males constitute 390 of the population and females 343. Bodimettu hill has an average literacy rate of 71%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 40%, and female literacy is 30%. In Bodimettu, 57 of the population is under 6 years of age.
