Mahudeshwarar Temple, Kodumudi, Erode
Mahudeshwarar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord
Shiva located at Kodumudi in Erode District of Tamilnadu. This huge
temple complex has 3 entrances on the east side and through each gate one can
enter the shrines of Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu and Lord Brahma. Presiding Deity
is called as Magudeswarar / Malai Kolundeeswarar / Kodumudi Nathar and Mother
is called as Tirupura Sundari / Mathurabhasini / Soundarya Nayaki / Vadivudaiya
Nayagi / Panmozhinayaki. The place is also called as Thirupandikkodumudi.
The
special feature of this temple is the presence of trinity, Mahudeshwarar, Veera
Narayana Perumal and Brahma in the same temple complex. This Temple is
considered as sung by three Nayanmars and called as Moovar Paadal Petra
Sthalam. This is the 264th Devaram Paadal Petra Shiva
Sthalam and 6th Shiva Sthalam in Kongu Naadu. This is a famous
Sthalam for performing rituals to satiate one’s ancestors. This is also a Parihara
Sthalam for Naga Dosham. The river Cauvery which flows
Southward from Karnataka, turns 90 degrees in front of the temple and flows
Eastward.
