Perumal Malai Temple
Perumal Malai is the small hillock located in the Erode. This Hillock
is 10 Km away from Erode town towards Bhavani-Mettur highways. This hillock is
also known as Mangalagiri. A small Perumal temple is located top of this hillock.
The name of this temple deity is Mangalagiri Perumal. One needs to cross the
450 footsteps to reach this hill temple. There is no other way to reach this
temple. This temple is famous for its festivities on Saturday’s on Tamil
month Puratasi. This Puratasi month falls on month September and
October. Lord Vishnu devotees consider Puratasi as the ideal month for
thanking Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu is believed to do the job of preservation in
Hinduism. Special prayers are offered on this Puratasi Saturday for
Lord Maha Vishnu.
Kalingarayan canal is flowing opposite to this Perumal Malai hillock.
Devotees are coming to this temple are taking holy dip in this canal. Devotees
are doing tonsure on the bank of this canal. River Cauvery is also flowing
opposite to this Perumal Malai hillock. Many people from nearby villages will
be visiting this temple on Puratasi Saturday’s. Special buses will be
arranged on these Saturday’s from Erode and Bhavani.
Connectivity
This temple can be reached either from Erode or from Bhavani. Lots
of corporation and private buses are running through this Perumal Malai Route.
Long route buses won’t stop here. Town buses are the best to reach this temple
from Erode and Bhavani.
