Sangameshwarar Temple, Bhavani, Erode
Sangameshwarar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located at Bhavani in Erode District of Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as Sangameshwarar / Alagesan / Sangamanathar / Maruthuvalingam / Vakreswarar / Nattatriwarar / Thirunannavudayar / Vanilingeswarar and Mother is called as Vedanayaki / Bhavani / Sangameshwari / Maruthunayaki / Vakreswari / Pannaar Mozhiyal. The town, the Goddess of this temple and the nearby river all have the same name - Bhavani. Bhavani is mentioned in the Hymns as Thiru Nana whereas it is now called Kooduthurai by the locals.

The Temple was built at the confluence of Kaveri river, Bhavani River and Amirtha (invisible) River. The place is also known as Dakshina Triveni Sangamam and Kooduthurai indicating the confluence of three rivers. Devotees perform last rites for ancestors on the riverbank and offer prayers at the Sangameshwarar temple. Tirugnanasambandar has sung hymns in praise of Lord Shiva of this temple. This is the 261st Devara Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam and 3rd Sthalam in Kongu Nadu. The temple was praised in Thevaram Hymns as Thirunanaa. Arunagirinathar who visited Thirunanaa, has composed many songs (Thirupugazh) on Lord Subramanya.

History
The Temple has been believed to be built by the Pallava King, Mahendra Varman. It is also said that a British dignitary by the name of William Garo donated a swing / cradle (Oonjal) made of ivory after he miraculously escaped from the collapse of his Rest house in the year 1802.  He felt that he was saved by the Goddess herself and became an ardent devotee after this incident. His signature can be seen on the frame of the cradle.
