Chidambareshwarar Temple is located in Koovathur, which is about 8 KM from Kalpakkam on the ECR road. It is 1000 years old Pallava temple. There is a 7 stage Rajagopuram. The Pallava kings erected this Temple at Koovathur. The lord is looking towards east. As is the custom in Siva temple, the Goddess Sri Sivagamasundari is facing the south. The long corridors adorn the temple.



Besides Duwarabalas, there are shrines for Sri Vinayagar, Murugan with consorts, Bairavar, Chandikeswarar, Sooriyan, four Saivite saints and Navagraham. The sculptures in this temple are astonishing in beauty and realism. The temple roof has a unique sculpture of Ashtadhik Balagars. One Time Pooja is conducted in this Temple.
