Vada Badrakaliamman Temple, Mecheri, Salem
Vada
Badrakaliamman Temple is located in the heart of the Mecheri Town in Salem
District. This Temple was built about 800 years ago by the local kings. Mecheri
is surrounded by the lake and beautiful green meadows. It is also surrounded by
south vallattu nadu and thoppaiyam. Mecheri is famous for "Mecheri special
sheep” and Vada Badrakaliamman Temple.
The
temple is facing north and situated in south – east direction in the heart of Mecheri
town nearby Salem - Dharmapuri highway. There are wide corridors and mandapams
surrounding the temple. Rajagopuram is main entrance to the temple. Besides this,
there are three Rajagopurams in three directions.

Prayers
Special
pooja is performed and the deity adorned every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday and
on full moon and new moon days. On the above days multitude of devotees throng
the temple to fulfill their vows and to make their offerings, from dawn to
dusk.
Especially
if the devotees have Dharsan on new moon days Mecheri Bhadra Kaliyamman will fulfill
the wishes of the devotees. So more than 50 thousand devotees throng to and
congregate in the temple and worship the deity.
