Sri Vaaleeswarar temple is located in Koovathur, which is about 8 KM from Kalpakkam on the ECR road. Koovathur on the eastern coastal road has the distinction at having two ancient Siva temples named as Sri Vaaleeswarar Temple & Chidambareshwarar Temple and Sri Adhi Kesava Perumal Temple dedicated to Vishnu.
The Goddess is called Sri Thiripurasundari, meaning lord of three worlds. The Shiva linga is unique in that it has sixteen faces on it (Pattai lingam). The Lord is looking towards the Eastern direction. There are Shrines for Vinayagar, Subramaniyar, Bairavar, Sooriyan and Chandikeswarar in this Temple.
The old temple is presently being renovated with splendid colours. All the auspicious festivals that belong to Siva temple are celebrated. Besides the temple there is a tank for devotees to bathe. The sacred tree that is revered here is Pavalamalli. At present pujas are performed twice a day.
