Admiral’s Street, Tharangampadi, Nagapattinam
Admiral’s
Street is one of the major streets located in Tharangampadi Town that tell a
story of the old days of Tranquebar. Take a leisure walk in this street to
witness the colonial era buildings all through the way. Admiral’s Street gives
the feeling to the visitors that they are in 17th Century Danish
Town. Ziegenbalg Museum Complex or Ziegenbalg’s House is located on Admiral
Street was bought in the 18th century to accommodate the growing
Lutheran mission.
The
complex consisted of Ziegenbalg’s Residence, which is the oldest building, a
prayer hall, the missionary buildings and living quarters, and a small building
called ‘the first printing press’ though the original was housed in the Mission
House on King’s Street. Tharangampadi is located at about 283 kms
(176 miles) from the state capital Chennai and 30 kms from
Mayiladuthurai, in Nagapattinam District. Nearest Railway Station is located at
Mayiladuthurai & Nearest Airport is located at Trichy.
