Poolampatty, Edappadi, Salem
Poolampatty is
a panchayat town in Salem
district in the Indian state of Tamil
Nadu. The main occupation is agriculture here. It is located
in Edappadi Taluk. The cattle’s rearing also adds to the source of income. This
picturesque town is located on the banks of River Cauvery.
Poolampatty,
situated on the banks of River Cauvery and with lush green fields, has all the
potential for a major tourism spot. But it lacks enough infrastructures to woo
tourists. River Cauvery separates Salem and Erode districts. There is a regular
boat service between Poolampatty, located 55 km from Salem district, and
Nerunjipet in Erode.
Hundreds
of people use the service. The boats are operated for tourists only during
Sundays, when the tourist flow is heavy. Poolampatty is the ideal location for
shooting films. Rasukutti, Pownu Pownuthan, Mutrugai, Samundi, Thamarai, ninaithen
vandhai, marumagan are the famous movies taken here. Tele shooting such as Sun TV Shivasakthi etc.
was taken here.
