Rose Garden, Yercaud
It is
located close to lady's and gent's seat. Entry is ₹30 per head. Parking charges
are extra (₹40 or so). Good for a stroll in the greens. This garden is plagued
with the same problem that is visible in all other public gardens in Yercaud -
an unkempt look and seeming lack of maintenance.
Plus
points of the rose garden are its nice layout and lots of open space for
children. Negative points are its high entrance fees and lack of proper
upkeep. Rose season is from March to June and hence in other months of the
year there may not be many roses to see.
Adjacent
to the Children’s Seat, is a beautiful rose garden, which hosts a wide variety
of roses. The mere variety of shades is worth admiring; and make for awesome
photos. Rose garden & Silk Farm is located at a distance of 2 km from
Yercaud boat house.
The Rose
Garden has a good collection of variety of Roses. The nursery inside the garden
provides you to purchase plants. One can see the cultivation of Mulberries, the
growing of silk worms and the method of spinning silk.
The Silk
Farm (go little ahead from Lady's seat and take a mud road on the right) does
not allow outsiders. The season for breeding is during monsoons.
