Pulipakkam – The Temple
This temple is facing towards east and situated on top of the hill. Nandi and Balipeedam can be seen in front of the sanctum. The Sanctum Sanctorum consists of Sanctum and Ardha Mandapa. Presiding Deity is called as Vyagrapureeswarar / Ponmalai Udaiya Nayanar and is facing east. He is housed in the sanctum in the form of Lingam. It is said that sunrays fall on Lingam every day during sun rise.
Vinayaga, Dakshinamoorthy, Vishnu, Brahma and Durga are the koshta idols located around the sanctum walls. Chandikeswarar shrine can be seen in his usual location. Jeeva Samadhi of Vyagrapada Maharishi can be seen behind the sanctum. There is north facing shrine for Pulippani Siddhar and Patanjali Siddhar to the right side of the sanctum. Nagathamman Shrine can be seen nearby.
Mother is called as Mangalyam Kaatha Narayani Ambal. She is housed in a separate south facing shrine. Her shrine is situated to the left side of the sanctum. There is an east facing shrine for Anandha Vinayagar on south east side of the temple premises. There are shrines for Murugan with his consorts Valli & Deivanai, Kala Bhairava, Navagrahas, Vinayaga under bodhi tree and Sahasra Linga in the temple premises.
There are several Shiva Lingams found around the temple. There is a temple pond on the north eastern side of the temple premises. The caves where Siddhars performed penance can be found in the forest area of the hills. There are Jeeva Samadhis for Mahaguru Raghava Swamigal and Saidapet Swamy (Parthasarathy Swamy) at the entrance of the road leading to this temple at the hill top. One can have a clear view of the Chengalpattu from the hill top.
