Arapaleeswarar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Kolli Hills of the Eastern Ghats in Kolli Hills Taluk in Namakkal District in Tamil Nadu. Presiding deity is called as Arapaleeswarar / Arapalli Mahadevar / Arapalli Udaiyar and Mother is called as Aram Valartha Nayagi / Thayammai. The Temple is considered as Thevara Vaippu Sthalam as Devaram hymns sung by Appar and Sambandar had a mention about this temple. Lord Murugan of this temple is praised in Thirupugazh hymns of Saint Arunagirinathar. Kolli Hills is reputed to be the headquarters of ancient black magic. Hence, the temple is frequented by Sadhus and Tantrics.

Temple Opening Time

The temple remains open from 07.00 AM to 01.00 PM and 2.30 PM to 7.00 PM. During the festival days, the temple remains open from 06.00 AM to 10.00 PM.

Festivals

Masi Maha Shivarathri (Mar-Apr), Adi Perukku (Jul-Aug), Purattasi Navaratri (Sep-Oct), Aippasi Annabishekam (Oct-Nov), Karthikai Deepam (Nov-Dec) and Margazhi Thiruvadhirai (Dec-Jan) are the festivals celebrated here. The tribals in the region join the devotees in celebrating Adiperukku in their own traditional ways. They catch the fishes, bore their nose and leave them back in the river again. The Valvil Ori festival and the spring festivals draws huge crowds to the temple.

Prayers

Devotees pray to Lord Shiva for child boon, removal of obstacles in marriage talks, solving family disputes,  and excellence in education. Devotees believe that Arapaleeswarar is in the form of a fish. Therefore, they offer food to the fishes in the Pancha Nadi river before entering the temple. Devotees pray to Aram Valartha Nayagi by standing below the Sri Chakra Yantra in the ceiling of the mukha mandapa of her shrine for wealth.
